Harry McDowell, CPA - Senior Consultant

Harry McDowell, CPA is bringing more than 40 years of accounting experience back to Dent, Baker & Company, LLP. He recently returned to fill the role of Senior Consultant.

McDowell was previously employed with the firm as a partner from 1973 to 1991 when it was in operation under the name Dent, Baker & McDowell. He left the company in 1991 to form his own firm, in which he served as Managing Partner.

 Harry McDowell assists clients in individualized tax planning, business planning, financial planning and gift and estate planning. His background includes providing financing recommendations for business sales and acquisitions. He has also assisted in various types of asset transfers, including business interests to “next generation” family members. 

 McDowell’s experience and knowledge spans a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, contracting, medical practices and supplies, engineering and insurance.

In addition to his public accounting experience, McDowell has owned and continues to own interests in several successful companies in Birmingham. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and is also a member and past officer of the Alabama Society for Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA). 

He is a 1962 graduate of the accounting program of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
