Trey Whitt, CPA - Partner

Trey Whitt joined Dent, Baker & Company in 2000 and earned his CPA designation in 2001. He graduated with honors from Auburn University with a degree in Business Management and earned an Accounting Equivalency from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Trey was named partner in 2008.

Trey’s practice focuses on the taxation of closely-held businesses and high net worth families. His niche industries include healthcare, construction, real estate, and manufacturing. He also works extensively in the areas of estate and trust taxation, tax controversy, and mergers and acquisitions.
 
Trey is a frequent lecturer on tax and financial topics. He has recently conducted seminars on business startup and acquisitions with the UAB School of Dentistry and UAB Department of Anesthesiology. Along with Mike Baker, Trey provided consulting services to the 2009 winner of the business plan competition sponsored by Alabama Launchpad.
 
Trey was named as a founding member of Auburn University's Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) Program Professional Advisory Board, and was named to the Brock School of Business Accounting Advisory Board at Samford University in 2011. He also currently serves on the boards of the Greater Birmingham Auburn Club and Children’s Dance Foundation. Trey is a past president of the Homewood Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Finance Committee and Administrative Board of Trinity United Methodist Church in Homewood. In 2003, Trey was named one of Birmingham’s “Top 40 Under 40” business professionals by the Birmingham Business Journal. Trey is a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.
